Potter's Field Ministries
Back in July of 2010, we were asked to pray about being part of a new ministry through Calvary Chapel Villarreal whose focus was to share the gospel, make disciples, and feed the hungry. The ministry is called Potter's Field Kids(PFK) and currently reaches several countries around the world. We spent close to two weeks in prayer and ultimately could not deny God's will for us to be a part of this work He had planned here. Partnering with Calvary Chapel brings us great joy, as we are continually thankful for how God is uses Pastor Phil and his wife Rebecca to minister to our family in mighty ways. Being part of PFK allows us to continue to focus on making disciples in the community God has planted us. Our focus will change now from discipling the leaders of the two local churches to the hundreds of children in Villarreal and the surrounding communities. We have learned much in our almost 4 years of serving on the mission field and one of the things we have learned is that God can do amazing things through children and youth. PFK supports the work of this ministry in Villarreal through its touring ministry called Potter's Field Ministries, which travels throughout the United States visiting and sharing with churches to raise funds for the minitries around the world. Please continue to pray for this ministry, the 32 children who are currently enrolled here in Villarreal for the February 2011 start date and the weekly Bible club outreach that PFM also supports through Calvary Chapel Villarreal where more than 50 children received weekly Bible teaching, games, crafts, and a meal in 2010.
***Update: We have almost completed the first full year of Potter's Field Kids (Las Manos del Alfarero) and what a joy it has been! We are covering the book of Genesis using an 'Answers in Genesis' curriculum called, "It all begins with Genesis" with the children. We are covering the 7 C's (Creation, Corruption, Catastrophe, Confusion, Christ, the Cross and Consumation) and are currently talking about the second C, Corruption, how sin entered into the world through the serpent. Bible club has also been a real blessing with btw 40 - 60 children attending on any given week. They keep us 'busy' but we believe the Word is taking root in some of them, which is why we are here - to spread the "seed" which is the Word of God to the world; in our case, the people of Villarreal, Costa Rica.
